Range Rules and Regulations

It is essential that all rules and regulation be adhered to at all times.

All New York State Handgun Laws shall be complied with at all times 

1(a). When entering the Range , members shall present their current valid membership card to the Range

         Officer.

 1(b). All persons while on the Shooting Range (observers included) are required to wear proper eye 

         and ear protection

2. All members and their guests must sign in prior to the use of the Range. This is to include name,

     membership number, date, time of entry and time of departure

3(a). Names of guests must be recorded by their hosts into the Range Log Book.

3(b). Guests of members must register their New York State Pistol License number and date of issue 

        before they can shoot. 

No guest without a valid New York State handgun license is permitted by New York State law to handle a handgun at any time.

3(c). All juniors twelve(12) years of age or older and guests may shoot .22 caliber rifles only and must 

        be accompanied by a R.S.A Range Officer.

4. Non-members who are guests can only use the Range facilities (limited to three(3) visits) as a guest of 

    a member in good standing and said member assumes full responsibility for his/her guests.

5. Only handguns, .22 caliber rifles, shotguns (lead shot only-no slugs), or black powder guns are permitted. No center fire rifles are permitted to be fired on the Range.

6. All handguns, except those chambered for center-fired rifle ammunition , are permitted to be shot at 

    the Range.

7. No full jacketed magnum, armor piercing, or incedinary loads may be used.

8. No fast draws from a holster are permitted in the Range house at any time.

9. No firearms of questionable safety may be fired.  The Range Officer will use his/her discretion in such

     matters.

10. No alcoholic beverages are permitted at the Range, nor will anyone who is intoxicated or otherwise

      impaired be allowed to use the Range facilities.

11(a). All firearms are to be handled at the firing line only.

11(b).All firearms are to be treated as if loaded and shall be pointed down range at all times with Action Open,

          or firearm holstered while any person is forward of the firing line.

11(c). A firearm shall not be passed to or accepted from another individual unless it has been cleared and

           inspected as being unloaded and declared safe.  Firearms may not be moved without the consent and

           under the supervision of the Range Officer.

12. All shooting will be done from either the 50 ft or 75ft firing line.

13. When a "cease fire" is called by anyone, all those shooting must stop immediately!  It is the

      responsibility of every person present at the Range to call a cease fire at the first sign of any unsafe 

      act or situation.

14. All firearms will be cased or holstered until the shooter is on the firing line.

15. Rifles will be allowed to be placed in a rifle rack with the action open.

16. All shooters who use the range must remove their spent brass, targets, and all debris from the Range. 

17. Under no circumstances will a shooter be allowed to move from one firing position to another  with 

      a loaded that is not holstered.

18. Subject to the approval of the Range Officer, drawing and firing from a holster with a loaded firearm will

      only be allowed from the 50 ft line, with the permission of all shooters present.

19. During Action Type Shooting there will be no cross firing other than from one adjacent position on 

      either side.

20. It shall be deemed proper Range etiquette for a shooter to be granted his/her request for a cease fire 

     in order to go down range to change or remove targets.  This request must be honored at least every

      fifteen (15)  minutes.

21. It shall be deemed proper Range etiquette for the first shooter on the line to establish the shooting 

     line and will remain at that shooting line unless all the shooters agree to make a firing line change.

22. No hanging or standing target shall be placed on the Range closer to the Range house than the cable

      closest to the house.  No target frame shall exceed 24" x 24" to avoid hitting wood at the target area.

      Target frames shall be hung from the cable using "s" hooks not exceeding 6".

 

Violations of these proceedings can result in an appearance at the E-Board for possible

suspension or expulsion.
